Iso Elinson ∙ Piano Recitals in Germany 1955-1959

9.99

Isaac ‘Iso’ Elinson studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory under Felix Blumenfeld. In 1927 at the age of twenty, Elinson performed all thirty-two of Beethoven’s piano sonatas in Leningrad and Moscow to celebrate the centenary of the composer’s death. During World War II Elinson took a post as Professor of Piano at the Manchester College of Music, later to become the Royal Northern College of Music, and it was here that he taught the young John Ogdon. He had a continuous performing, broadcasting and teaching career of forty years and it is a pity that his name has been forgotten.
