Mstislav Rostropovich ∙ East Berlin Recital in 1964

9.99

Mstislav Rostropovich was far more heard as a conductor than as a cellist in those days in 1964. When he did appear as a cellist, it was predominantly in the role of a concerto soloist rather than a recitalist. Hence, the recital that took place at the Marx-Engels-Auditorium in East Berlin, where Rostropovich and pianist Alexander Dedjuchin performed, offered a rare opportunity for listeners to savor his solo performances. Notably, Rostropovich conveyed his choice of encores in the German language.
