Julius Katchen ∙ Concert Tours 1960-1968 ∙ 2CD

13.99

From an early stage in his life, Julius Katchen displayed prodigious abilities, astonishing audiences with his technical prowess and profound interpretations. Tragically, his life was cut short in 1969 when he was only 42 years old. With the unwavering support of his devoted mother and grandmother, he achieved remarkable success at a young age, embarking on numerous global tours. During his early years he specialised in twentieth century music, particularly Bartók and Prokofiev. His fame quickly spread worldwide, largely due to his numerous acclaimed recordings for Decca, and he had the privilege of performing with some of the most renowned orchestras and conductors around the globe. In later years, he specialized in the works of Brahms, captivating audiences with his recitals of the complete piano music in prominent cities like London, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Our Meloclassic double CD album presents an extensive collection of piano and orchestra compositions, predominantly offering live recordings that have never been released before.
